Highlighted Events: Town Hall Meeting on Commander's Access Channel A 40-minute video of the Jan. 14 Town Hall Meeting will play on the Commander's Access Channel, Channel 5, through mid-February to ensure all base personnel have the opportunity to review the discussions on base housing privatization. The video will run at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to allow for viewing by personnel on either day or night shifts. Section of Hansell Ave. closures Hansell Avenue will be periodically closed between Arnold and Huyser streets for combat arms training. Signs will be posted redirecting vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The dates the section of road will be closed include Feb. 5, 7, 26, 28 and 29, and Mar. 4, 6, 13, 18, 26 and 28. Upcoming Events Feb. 1 - Feb. 8: Feb. 1: Club Fairchild's Friday Night Club Fairchild Friday Night Feb. 1 will include a Boss and Buddy event at 4 p.m. There will be a prize for squadron participation. Feb. 2: Texas Hold 'Em Tournament There will be a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament at the Final Point Feb. 2 beginning at 6 p.m. Frequent players cards can earn $200 in extra chips. Feb. 2: The Black & White Affair Club Fairchild and Jackie Brown from radio station Wired 96.9 will host The Black & White Affair Feb. 2 beginning at 9 p.m. at Club Fairchild. Tickets cost $10. Experience the musical evolution of urban culture through soul, reggae, R&B, hip-hop and neo-soul. All proceeds will benefit the Gen. Benjamin Davis Scholarship Fund. Dress is black and white if you have it, but no jeans or sneakers are allowed. There will be free hors d'oeuvres until 10:30 a.m. Feb. 2-3: Barrier maintenance Barrier maintenance is scheduled to be performed at the main gate Feb. 2-3. Feb. 2, both in-bound lanes will be closed while one out-bound lane will be used to route in-bound traffic. Feb. 3, both outbound lanes will be closed while one in-bound lane will be used to accommodate out-bound traffic. Please plan to use a little extra time to arrive on/depart from the base this weekend. Feb. 3: Super Bowl party There will be a Super Bowl party at Club Fairchild Feb. 3 starting at 2 p.m. There will be food and giveaways to include the chance to win a recliner, sponsored by Global Credit Union. Call 247-2511 for more information Ongoing Notifications: WAPS testing relocated Military promotion testing Weighted Airmen Promotion System and Senior NCO Promotion Program has relocated to the Education Center, Bldg. 2380, 2nd Floor, Room 213. The morning testing session starts at 7:30 a.m. and the afternoon testing session starts at 12:15 p.m. The change takes affect this coming Feb. 4. Youth sports registration The following is registration information for some youth sports: With spring approaching, so are the baseball and softball seasons. Education Briefs: Study skills class The study skills class is designed for military, civilians and dependents returning to college after a long absence. The class introduces individuals to time management, memory, reading for comprehension and test taking tips. Classes are scheduled for Feb. 6 and March 5 at the base Education Center in Room 113 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary.
