Fairchild Briefs and Ongoing Notifications

The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information. Ongoing notifications are located at the bottom of the page.

Highlighted Events:

Town Hall Meeting on Commander's Access Channel
A 40-minute video of the Jan. 14 Town Hall Meeting will play on the Commander's Access Channel, Channel 5, through mid-February to ensure all base personnel have the opportunity to review the discussions on base housing privatization. The video will run at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to allow for viewing by personnel on either day or night shifts.

March 15: Kids Understanding Deployment Operations
Kids Understanding Deployment Operations or KUDOS will take place March 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This three-phase event will allow dependent children to focus on the aspects of pre-deployment, deployment and post-deployment operations. KUDOS is open to Team Fairchild, with special emphasis placed on AEF 3/4 personnel. Please RSVP by Feb. 29 by calling 247-5401 or email Robert.schmoldt-02@fairchild.af.mil.

Upcoming Events Feb. 6 - Feb. 13:

Feb. 6: Ash Wednesday Services
The base Chapel will host Ash Wednesday services Feb. 6. The Protestant Service at 11 a.m. will include the Imposition of Ashes and Communion. The Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 12 and 6 p.m.

Feb. 7: Section of Hansell Ave. to close
Hansell Avenue will be periodically closed between Arnold and Huyser streets for combat arms training. Signs will be posted redirecting vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The dates the section of road will be closed include Feb. 7, 26, 28 and 29, and Mar. 4, 6, 13, 18, 26 and 28.

Feb. 8: Club Fairchild's Friday Night
Club Fairchild Friday Night Feb. 8 will include a Boss and Buddy event at 4 p.m. There will be a prize for squadron participation. Bingo will begin at 5:30 p.m. and there will be Karaoke by Marj at 6 p.m. All ranks are welcome. Call 244-3622 for more information.

Feb. 8: Father-Daughter Valentine's Dance
There will be a Father-Daughter Valentine's Dance at the Deel Community Center Feb. 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. The event is for school-age children, from 6 to 18 years old). The cost is $5 per family. Moms of deployed dads may attend with their daughters. Please make your reservations by Feb. 7. Call 247-2619 for more information

Feb. 8, 9: Outdoor Recreation Valentine's Getaway
The Outdoor Recreation Connection is providing a Valentine's Day getaway package to Schweitzer Mountain Resort for $525 per couple. The price includes a room for two nights, two adult lift tickets and equipment rental. The sign-up deadline is Jan. 31. Call 247-2511 for more information.

Feb. 9: Spokane Chiefs Military Appreciation Night
The Spokane Chiefs hockey team is hosting a military appreciation night Feb. 9 at the Spokane Arena. The game against the Tri-cities is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Discount tickets are available for military members and their families. Feb. 9: Ice Climbing Adventure
The Outdoor Recreation Connection is hosting an ice climbing adventure Feb. 9. The ORC will provide instruction and equipment for safe travel up a frozen waterfall. Participants will meet at the ORC at 8 a.m. Call 247-2511 to sign up. Space is limited.

Feb. 13: Valentine's Day Rose Sale deadline
The deadline to order one dozen roses is Feb. 13. The roses will be delivered to the person of choice Feb. 14. The cost for the dozen roses is $20. Contact your first sergeant for more information.

Ongoing Notifications:

WAPS testing relocated
Military promotion testing Weighted Airmen Promotion System and Senior NCO Promotion Program has relocated to the Education Center, Bldg. 2380, 2nd Floor, Room 213. The morning testing session starts at 7:30 a.m. and the afternoon testing session starts at 12:15 p.m. The change took affect Feb. 4. If there are any questions concerning the changes, contact the education center at 247-2258.

Youth sports registration
The following is registration information for some youth sports: With spring approaching, so are the baseball and softball seasons. It's time to get the boys and girls signed up. Baseball and softball at multiple levels is available. Register online at www.westplainslittleleague.com, make your way to the sign-up booth set up at the Base Exchange Feb. 23 from noon to 4 p.m., or call Tech. Sgt. Josef Cheevers at 247-5964.

Major League Baseball Packages
Major league baseball packages from April 12 through Sept. 6 are available to the Seattle Quest Field for $110 per person. Packages include round trip luxury bus transportation from Fairchild to Seattle and a meal from Club Fairchild. Call 244-4797 for more information.
