Winter Storm Actions Published Feb. 5, 2008 Fairchild Emergency Operations Center FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- With continued snowfall, please follow the below guidance: - Drive safely, reduce speed, increase following distances and practice defensive driving. - Be carefully of slipping hazards. - Housing tenants are responsible to shovel driveways, sidewalks, mailboxes and fire hydrants. If you have a hydrant in your yard, remove the snow six inches below valve three feet around the hydrant. - Parking lots are the lowest priority for snow removal operations. If you have an emergency need for snow remove call Civil Engineer Customer Service at 247-2302 or 247-2303. - During this time the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Fire Department, 92nd Security Forces Squadron and Emergency Medical Services have a limited capability and road conditions will slow response times. Please ensure your calls are for emergencies and only after you have exhausted other all other avenues for assistance. - Maintain a disaster preparedness kit capable of sustaining you and your family for minimum of 72 hours. Items should include food, water, medication and any other personal needs. - For most current information on base reporting instructions please call 247-5100. The 92nd CES has received a number of weather related service calls. Please continue to report problems as they arise and the 92nd CES will be able to mitigate any damage that may result from weather conditions. Please understand that temporary solutions may be required for roof leaks since roof conditions cannot be properly identified and fixed on snow-covered roofs. Due to the heavy snow, vehicles parked on base housing streets are impeding emergency response forces' ability to respond to incidents in our housing areas, as well as with snow removal operations and this has resulted in hazardous conditions. Housing residents must move these vehicles as soon as possible. Starting Feb. 5, the 92nd SFS will begin ticketing and towing vehicles that are in violation. Please remember to lend a helping hand to spouses and families of deployed Airmen during severe weather. Remember this is a TEAM FAIRCHILD effort!
