Team Fairchild's 92nd Medical Group clinic was recognized recently as the Air Force's best medical clinic in 2007, after receiving the 2007 Air Force Surgeon General Award.

"The award package included contributions from almost every facet of our group," said Col. Barbara Jefts, 92nd MDG commander. "It was an effort of sustained excellence across the board. Active duty, civilian and contractor staff members were all involved."

The clinic pushed the limits to go above and beyond the standard of excellence, enabling 4,149 sorties to include 23,209 flying hours, 157 gallons of fuel and 10,466 aircraft. The clinic also had 29 expeditionary medics deployed for a total of 2,157 days, completed 99 percent of personnel health assessments and 99 percent of occupational examinations, and was rated as top notch at Air Mobility Command and Air Force level in a number of aspects.

"We deployed more people for more days for the wing and for the group than in the past, said Colonel Jefts. "We had multiple [Air Force Smart Operations] 21 wins and led the command and the Air Force in a number of key metrics. We don't just plan, we execute.

"I am not sure I can even describe the pride I have in their accomplishments every day," she added. "To have our medics recognized at the Air Force level is remarkable."

The 92nd MDG is not new to recognition. They won the Air Force Medical Treatment Facility of the Year award multiple times and were recognized as AMC's top facility 2003, 2004 and 2005, among many other awards at the individual and unit level.

Though, winning awards and being recognized as the best doesn't mean that efforts to become a better and stronger clinic will stop. Once at the top, it is still necessary to try to reach higher.

"We will continue to optimize performance and health and to provide world class health care to our beneficiaries - anytime, anywhere," the medical group commander said. "We will leverage our facility renovations to make the health care facility we use as exceptional as the care we deliver in it.

"Our support to the Global War on Terrorism and to our beneficiaries was vital. We demonstrated we are Professional Expeditionary Airmen," said Colonel Jefts. "I think the group will continue to soar and build its capacity as a high-performing team."
