Fairchild Briefs and Ongoing Notifications Published Feb. 12, 2008 FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information. Ongoing Notifications are located at the bottom of the page. Highlighted Events: Town Hall Meeting on Commander's Access Channel A 40-minute video of the Jan. 14 Town Hall Meeting will play on the Commander's Access Channel, Channel 5, through mid-February to ensure all base personnel have the opportunity to review the discussions on base housing privatization. The video will run at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to allow for viewing by personnel on either day or night shifts. March 15: Kids Understanding Deployment Operations Kids Understanding Deployment Operations or KUDOS will take place March 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This three-phase event will allow dependent children to focus on the aspects of pre-deployment, deployment and post-deployment operations. Upcoming Events Feb. 13- Feb. 20 Feb. 13: Bloomsday Race kick-off There will be a Lilac Bloomsday Race kick-off meeting Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at the base fitness center. In preparation for the race, the fitness center is conducting a Bloomsday Challenge and training program. The challenge will bid squadrons against each other to see which can log the most miles in preparation for the race. The squadron with the most miles will receive a trophy, and all participants in the challenge will receive a T-shirt. The roses will be delivered to the person of choice Feb. 14. The cost for the dozen roses is $20. Contact your first sergeant for more information. Feb. 14: Palace Chase briefing There will be a briefing on the Palace Chase program Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. in the MPF conference room, Bldg. 2245, room 227A. This briefing is open to all ranks and will include information about the Palace Chase program, an early release program which allows active duty personnel to transfer to the Air Force Reserve before their established date of separation. It will also include general information about the benefits of the Air Force Reserve and a tutorial on the "Virtual Application" process. For more information please call Master Sgt. Kenneth Toon at 247-2976. Feb. 14: Valentine's Day dinner for two Club Fairchild will have a Valentine's Day dinner for two available Feb. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at the club. There will be door prizes, flowers for the ladies and romantic music. Make reservations by Feb. 8 and receive $1 off. Call 244-3622 for reservations and menu information. Feb. 15: Annual Awards Banquet The Annual Awards Banquet will be Feb. 15 at Club Fairchild. The social will begin at 6 p.m. and the awards will be announced beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be three separate meal choices, New York Strip, Stuffed Chicken breast and vegetarian. Prices are $23 for non-members and $20 for members. Feb. 15: FTAC NCOIC application deadline The deadline to apply as the First Term Airman Center NCOIC is Feb. 15. Feb. 15: Club Fairchild's Friday Night Club Fairchild Friday Night Feb. 1 will include a Boss and Buddy event at 4 p.m. There will be a prize for squadron participation. Feb. 16: Outdoor Recreation Ski Bus Trip The Outdoor Recreation Connection will provide a ski bus trip to Schweitzer Mountain Resort Feb. 16. The cost is $15 per person. The purchase of a lift ticket or rental of equipment from the ORC lowers the cost of the bus ride to $10. The bus will leave at 6:45 a.m. from the ORC. Call 247-2511 for more information. Feb. 19: Bundles for Babies The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Bundles for Babies class Feb. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. for first-time parents. This fun and informative class will help prepare for new additions to families. Topic discussed include: the developmental stages, financial planning and emotional aspects of having a new baby. Classes are open to all expectant active duty Air Force families and those active duty Air Force families who have had babies who are three months and younger. Feb. 20: Big Read begins at base library Free copies of "The Maltese Falcon" by Dashiell Hammet, the novel chosen for The Big Read in Spokane, will be distributed Feb. 20 at the base library. Ongoing Notifications: Spring Soccer Registration Spring soccer registration will continue until March 5 at the Youth Center for players ages 3-12. The Smart Start fee for ages 3-4 is $45 per child and the fee for ages 5-12 is $40 per child. The program begins April 7. WAPS testing relocated Military promotion testing Weighted Airmen Promotion System and Senior NCO Promotion Program has relocated to the Education Center, Bldg. 2380, 2nd Floor, Room 213. The morning testing session starts at 7:30 a.m. and the afternoon testing session starts at 12:15 p.m. The change takes affect this coming Feb. 4. Youth sports registration The following is registration information for some youth sports: With spring approaching, so are the baseball and softball seasons. It's time to get the boys and girls signed up. Baseball and softball at multiple levels is available. Major League Baseball Packages Major league baseball packages from April 12 through Sept. 6 are available to the Seattle Quest Field for $110 per person.
