Your base library is "one of the few locations on base that is completely free and offers something for all ages," said Lisa Love, acting library director for the base library.

This week is National Library Week; in honor of this, the library is holding a "Goodie Bag Drawing" on April 18. To be entered in the drawing, all you have to do is check something out. It's that easy. And now, you can check out more than just books. The library has music CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, audio books and past issues of magazines available.

The Air Force is making sure the library stays up to date with technology, too. There are nine computers available in the computer lab, as well as a couple of laptops you can check out and use while in the library. You may also bring your own laptop and use the library's wireless connection. There are scanners and printers available in the lab to use at absolutely no charge.

For those who spend a lot of time using digital audio devices you can now check out audio books and have them downloaded straight to your computer, to then upload to your device and listen to them wherever you may go. All you have to do is download and install the free software to your personal computer.

The Air Force has subscribed to many online databases to make it even easier to complete those research papers, or information for personal use. Some of the periodical databases can also be accessible at home. These databases are not just for students; others can find use for them too. There are databases that cover all sorts of interests from general health to auto repair manuals.

The library also caters to the younger crowd. Every Wednesday, at 10 a.m. is story time for preschool age children. Dona Hull, library technician, reads to the children then works with them on a small craft so each child has something to take home. This week, the library has the theme of "Libraries," due to National Library week. The books to be read are "Maisey Goes to the Library," by Lucy Cousins; "Library Mouse," by Daniel Kirk; and "Reading Makes You Feel Good," by Todd Parr. The children will also be making a spring journal as their craft for the week.

The base library has something for all ages; and changing with the times now offers more than just books.
