Current standings and a look at the 92nd LRS head coach Published April 22, 2008 By Senior Airman Jocelyn A. Ford 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. - -- Below are the standings for the ten teams playing, with a total of 96 players, including coaches. Team standings are current as of April 21. Team Won/Lost 336th Training Group 6/0 92nd Medical Group 6/2 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron 5/2 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron 2/2 92nd Mission Support Squadron 2/1 92nd Operations Group 4/4 92nd Security Forces Squadron 1/2 92nd Communications Squadron 2/5 92nd Air Refueling Wing staff 1/5 92nd Services Squadron 0/6 Master Sgt. Bruce Mjelde of the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron is regularly seen along side of the volleyball court, even when his team is not playing. He watches almost every game for the love of the sport. He observes to catch similarities of other teams with his, as well as differences. It helps him make adjustments to his team if needed. However, he does admit that he mostly watches because there is, "nothing like seeing someone get a monster hit, or a point-saving dig." Sergeant Mjelde has coached the 92nd LRS team for the last four years, except when deployment interfered. He has played the game since high school, and has loved the game ever since. "Man, that was a long time ago," he said referring to his high school days. "We have a great group of people," Sergeant Mjelde stated. "Our desire to enjoy ourselves and to play our hardest, no matter the outcome of the game" is the greatest benefit to the 92nd LRS team. There are challenges too, like having different experiences levels combined on one team, but that is also what adds to the fun. Motivation is not a problem with this team. But when the team is down on points and the game is coming to an end, that is when people start to panic and keeping the team focused can become a challenge. Yet that doesn't seem to be too much of a problem either. The most memorable game for the 92nd LRS team so far this season was, "definitely the game against Survival. Just like other people we play to the level of our opponents, and they're at the top of the ladder right now. That game had us all playing our positions great, throwing blocks on their big hitters, covering each other when needed, and taking big swings when it was our turn. Even though we lost the game when time ran out, we played our best. "I've always said I'd rather lose a game playing our tails off than to win playing back yard ball. It's much more fun. I'd like to think we gave them their best match yet. And the season isn't over yet either..." added Sergeant Mjelde.
