Highlighted Events:

April 25: Arbor Day Ceremony and Tree Planting Ceremony
Fairchild will be honored as a Tree City USA Community again this year. The National Arbor Day Foundation and the Washington Department of Natural Resources will present an award to Fairchild on April 25 at 1 p.m. in a ceremony to be held in Miller Park. Fairchild Airmen will plant five trees at Miller Park immediately after the ceremony in celebration of this honor.

April 23: Wing Quarterly Awards Ceremony
The Wing Quarterly Awards ceremony will be held at the base Theater on April 23, at 3 p.m. For more information call Tech. Sgt. Michele Glaspie at 247-5629.

April 23: Chiefs Recognition Ceremony
Fairchild's Chief's Group will host the Chief's Recognition Ceremony April 23, 6 p.m., at Club Fairchild. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dress is mess dress or semi-formal for military personnel and coat and tie apparel for civilian personnel.

April 24: Armed Services Blood Drive
The Pacific Northwest Armed Services Blood Drive Program will be conducting a blood drive on April 24 at the Deel Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment go to http://www.militaryblood.dod.mil/Donors/.

April 25: Funspot Friday Night Frenzy
The Funspot will host Friday Night Frenzy April 25 from 4-10 p.m. Bowling, skating, miniature golf, pool tables and batting cages will be at your service for $5. Deployed spouses and their children are free; children four and under are free. Call 244-3622 for more information. 

April 25: Enlisted Sports Club Grand Opening
Show off your best sports attire at the Club Fairchild April 25 starting at 4:30 p.m. during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and name unveiling of the newly remodeled Enlisted Sports Club formerly known as Hollywood North. The event is free and will include sports games, give-a-ways, chili dogs and nachos. Stick around for the second half of the event and party with a DJ at 8 p.m. Members get in free and non-members pay $5 at the door. For more information please call Club Fairchild at 244-3622.

April 29: Grand Opening of the Oasis
The new Family Oasis located inside the Deel Community Center will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony April 29 at 1 p.m. The Oasis will be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be a comfortable place for spouses and children to meet others and form relationships. Ongoing Notifications:

Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30-6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 years and older. April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month

Headquarters Road and parking lot closure
Headquarters Road and the parking lot behind Wing Headquarters building will be closed for construction. Parking will be available in the old parade grounds on Bong Street. Access to the HQ Bldg during construction will be the front and side doors. Upon completion of the project in late July, HQ Road will no longer connect to Mitchell Drive; it will only be used to access the new parking lot behind Wing HQ from SAC Blvd. Contact Mr. Mike Harper, 247-3108, if you have any questions.

Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30-11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop 247-5913 for more information.

"Airman: The Book 2008" available
The Public Affairs office received a mass mailing of "Airman: The Book 2008." The magazine is available to the base populace for pickup and includes valuable information about the different Air Force commands, aircraft and weapons systems, career fields, pay charts, awards and decorations, etc. To pick up the free magazine, stop by the Public Affairs office, located on the second floor of the White House (wing headquarters building).

Attention all Fairchild communication systems users
The use of government communication systems such as, but not limited to, telephones, fax machines, computers, computer networks (including internet access), cellular phones, PDAs, Blackberrys, and hand held radios constitutes consent to monitoring. Also, please ensure that all government owned and issued telephones, fax machines, PDAs, Blackberrys, cell phones, hand held radios, and standalone computers have an attached DD form 2056.
