June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest 08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and they are now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. April 30: Wing Promotion Recognition Ceremony
The Wing Promotion Recognition Ceremony will be held in the Ballroom at Club Fairchild April 30 at 3:30 p.m.

May 1: Volunteer Recognition Luncheon
A volunteer recognition luncheon will take place at Club Fairchild May 1 at 11 a.m.

May 2: Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony
Guest speaker Leo Hymas, U.S. Army Liberator of the Nazi concentration camp Buchenwald, will be at the base theater May 2 at 9 a.m. for the Holocast Remembrance Ceremony.

May 2: Communications Focal Point ribbon cutting
The ribbon cutting for the Communications Focal Point will be held May 2 at 1 p.m. in bldg. 2040.

May 3: Recycling contest
The Recycling Center is sponsoring a recycling contest May 3. From 8 a.m.-4 p.m. students of Michael Anderson Elementary School students and their parents can bring recyclable items to the Recycling Center. The class with the most participation will win a pizza party. For more information call the Recycling Center at 247-2855.

Ongoing Notifications:

Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30-6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 and older. April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month

Headquarters Road and parking lot closure
Headquarters Road and the parking lot behind the Wing Headquarters building are closed for construction. Parking is available at the old parade grounds on Bong Street. Access to the Headquarters Bldg. during construction will be the front and side doors. Upon completion of the project in late July, Headquarters Road will no longer connect to Mitchell Drive; it will only be used to access the new parking lot behind Wing HQ from SAC Blvd. Contact Mike Harper, 247-3108, if you have any questions.

Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30-11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays 4:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop, 247-5913, for more information.

"Airman: The Book 2008" available
The Public Affairs office received a mass mailing of "Airman: The Book 2008." The magazine is available to the base populace for pickup and includes valuable information about the different Air Force commands, aircraft and weapons systems, career fields, pay charts, awards and decorations, etc. To pick up the free magazine, stop by the Public Affairs office, located on the second floor of the White House (Wing Headquarters Bldg.).

Attention all Fairchild communication systems users
The use of government communication systems such as, but not limited to, telephones, fax machines, computers, computer networks (including Internet access), cellular phones, PDAs, Blackberrys and hand-held radios constitutes consent to monitoring. Also, please ensure that all government owned and issued telephones, fax machines, PDAs, Blackberrys, cell phones, hand held radios and standalone computers have an attached DD form 2056.
