June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest '08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and they are now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. May 9: Fitness Fair
In celebration of May Fitness Month, the Health and Wellness Center is hosting a Fitness Fair at the Fitness Center on May 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come join them for great health and fitness information and prizes.

May 11: Mother's Day Brunch
A Mother's Day brunch will be held at Club Fairchild May 11 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. There will be two drawings for special Mother's Day baskets. Members pay just $17.95, non-members pay $20.95, children 5 - 10 years old will be charged $7.50 and children 4 and under eat free. For more information call 244-3622.

May 11: Mother's Day Bowl
Come bowling at the Funspot on Mother's Day May 11 from 1 - 7 p.m. Mothers bowl free. For more information call 247-2422.

May 12 - 16: National Bike to Work Week
Members of Fairchild are encouraged to bicycle to work with groups of friends and co-workers during National Bike to Work Week May 12 - 16. A prize drawing will be offered to participating members for every day that they ride their bicycle to work. Prizes will include a CamelBak Mule 100 ounce hydration pack valued at $85, a portable tire pump and a bicycle multi tool. Entries must be received by May 16. May 14: Bulk Item Pick-up
Bulk item pick-up will be available to base housing residents May 14. Personnel housed in Ft. Wright Village, Officer Capehart, senior officer housing, Galena station, NCO Capehart, main base and survival dormitories are invited to leave large items that they no longer use in front of their homes for pick up. Items that are greater than ten feet long, are 300 pounds or heavier and/or contain hazardous materials are not permitted for pick-up. Education Briefs:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Registration for the summer semester runs through May 16. Classes include Macroeconomics and Human Factors in Aviation Safety. The graduate class this semester will be the Air Transportation System, a core class for the Master of Science degree. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers bachelor's and master's degree programs and an AMT Type 65 certificate for those seeking a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant license. Scholarship available for military spouses, dependents

Register for Community Colleges of Spokane classes
Fairchild Spring II 2008 classes begin May 19. General education and math lab classes are offered. Register early to ensure class availability. To schedule an advising appointment or speak to a counselor, call 533-8937. For GED, high school completion and English as a Second Language classes call 533-4600.

Study Skills Class
This seminar is designed for those returning to school after a long absence. The primary focus is to introduce students to time-management skills. Other modules include memory, reading for comprehension and test-taking tips. Students will also assess their learning styles, establish goals and make a study calendar. Classes are scheduled July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10. They will be held at the Base Education Center in Room 105 from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with lunch from noon - 1:00 p.m. Contact Dennis Ottmar at 247-4209 or email dennis.ottmar@fairchild.af.mil with any questions about enrollment.

Park University
- Effective July 1, Park will no longer transfer in History classes as Humanities credits. Instead, History credits will be given as Social Science credits. Call 244-2020 for information.

- Park University offers a 15-credit-hour scholarship for non-military spouses and dependents of active-duty personnel. For more information call the Park University office at 244-2020.

- Park University - Fairchild Campus Center will offer the Writing Competency Test May 13, 20 and 27; and June 3, 10, 17 and 24. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement. The WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after test date. Failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation because the requirement will not be waived. Call the Fairchild Campus Center at 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the mandatory WCT.

- On-site and Internet classes for summer (Term V) will begin June 2. Registration is in progress for both online and onsite courses. Be sure to register early for Internet classes. - Park's Online Learning program offers seven Bachelor of Science degree completion programs online and more than 250 internet courses (including General Education classes) each term. For more information, call 244-2020.

- Park University offers several online graduate degree programs. Master's degrees are available in Public Affairs, Business Administration, Communication and Leadership, Education, and Healthcare Leadership.
