FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. --  The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information. Ongoing Briefs are located at the bottom of the page.

June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest '08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and the committee is now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. Upcoming Events:

May 12-16: National Bike to Work Week
Members of Fairchild are encouraged to bicycle to work with groups of friends and co-workers during National Bike to Work Week May 12 - 16. A prize drawing will be offered to participating members for every day they ride their bicycle to work. Prizes will include a CamelBak Mule 100 ounce hydration pack valued at $85, a portable tire pump and a bicycle multi tool. Entries must be received by May 16. May 14: Bulk item pickup
Bulk item pickup is available to base housing residents May 14. Personnel housed in Ft. Wright Village, Officer Capehart, senior officer housing, Galena station, NCO Capehart, main base and survival dormitories are invited to leave large items they no longer use in front of their homes for pickup. Items that are greater than ten feet long, are 300 pounds or heavier and/or contain hazardous materials are not permitted for pickup. May 16: Police Week display
The 92nd Security Forces Squadron will be conducting displays at the Base Exchange in observance of Police Week May 16 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. A Security Forces vehicle display, local law enforcement display and Security Forces history display will be available. There will also be a K-9 detection demo.

May 22: America's Kids Run and Armed Forces 5K Run
On the corner of Doolittle Street and Castle Street at 4 p.m. May 22, the America's Kids Run and Armed Forces 5K Run will begin. There are no registration fees; however, children 5 and up may sign up for the America's Kids Run through May 19 at the Youth Center. Free T-shirts are available for both events on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on the America's Kids Run contact the Youth Center at 247-5601. For information on the Armed Forces 5K Run contact the Fitness Center at 247-2791.

AAFES survey offers 10 percent discount
Military shoppers who log onto the Army & Air Force Exchange Service Web site and take a quick 12-minute survey from May 5 - June 9 will earn a 10 percent discount on their next shopping trip, good for up to a $100 purchase. Go to www.aafes.com to take the survey and earn your reward today.

Miller Park Gazebo reservations
Interested in barbequing at Miller Park? Make a reservation with Outdoor Recreation for a Gazebo May 1 - October 31. Gazebo use is free. For more information call 247-2511.

Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 and older. Headquarters Road and parking lot closure
Headquarters Road and the parking lot behind the Wing Headquarters building are closed for construction. Parking is available at the old parade grounds on Bong Street. Access to the Headquarters Bldg. during construction will be the front and side doors. Upon completion of the project in late July, Headquarters Road will no longer connect to Mitchell Drive; it will only be used to access the new parking lot behind Wing HQ from SAC Blvd. Contact Mike Harper, 247-3108, if you have any questions.

Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30 - 11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop, 247-5913, for more information.

Attention all Fairchild communication systems users
