FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. - The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information. Ongoing briefs are located at the bottom of the page.

June 28 - 29: Spokane Hoopfest '08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and the committee is now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor T-shirt and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. Upcoming Events:

May 21: Chief's Group Steak Out
The Chief's Group will host a barbeque event in Hangar 2 at 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 21. Tickets are $7 and include a steak, baked potato, salad, Louisiana style beans and soda. Contact any chief master sergeant on base to purchase a ticket.

May 22: Summer Fun and Safety Fair
The wing safety office is hosting a Summer Fun and Safety Fair at the Deel Community Center in honor of Safety Day 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. May 22. Attendance is open to all active-duty personnel, dependants and civilians. Booths from the base and the local community will be on display.

May 22: America's Kids Run and Armed Forces 5K Run
The America's Kids Run and Armed Forces 5K Run will start on the corner of Doolittle Street and Castle Street May 22 at 4 p.m. There are no registration fees. Children 5 and older interested in the America's Kids Run must register at the Youth Center by May 19. Free shirts are offered for both events on a first-come, first-served basis. Ongoing Notifications:

92nd Medical Group closures
The 92nd Medical Group will be closed May 23 for Family Day, and May 26 for Memorial Day. The refill pharmacy located between the Base Exchange and the Commissary will be open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. May 23, and closed May 24 - 26.

2008 Air Force Community Assessment
Fairchild is participating in the 2008 Air Force Community Assessment. The AFCA gathers thoughts and perceptions of living and working within the Fairchild community. The results of this assessment will help to inform leadership on ideas for improvement. If you were randomly selected for the 2008 AFCA, take the time to finish the assessment as soon as possible.

Firing range restrictions
Combat Arms ranges located behind the 92nd Security Forces Squadron are off limits to all unauthorized personnel, as is the grenade launcher training area located near Pumphouse Road. Be aware that it is both very dangerous and illegal to trespass in these areas. If you have any questions about Fairchild firing ranges, contact Tech. Sgt. Rainbolt at 247-5150 or 247-5160.

Military Personnel Flight and Finance closure
The MPF and Finance will be closed May 23 - 26 for Wing Family Day and Memorial Day.
Base power outages
There will be a short power outage May 27 that will affect all of Fairchild. The power outage will occur between 6 - 6:15 a.m. and will last less than 15 seconds.

AAFES survey offers 10-percent discount
Military shoppers who log onto the Army & Air Force Exchange Service Web site and take a quick 12-minute survey from May 5 - June 9 will earn a 10 percent discount on their next shopping trip, good for up to a $100 purchase. Go to www.aafes.com to take the survey and earn your reward today.

Miller Park Gazebo reservations
Interested in barbequing at Miller Park? Make a reservation with Outdoor Recreation for a Gazebo May 1 - Oct. 31. Gazebo use is free. For more information call 247-2511.

Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 and older. Headquarters Road and parking lot closure
Headquarters Road and the parking lot behind the Wing Headquarters building are closed for construction. Parking is available at the old parade grounds on Bong Street. Access to the Headquarters Bldg. during construction will be the front and side doors. Upon completion of the project in late July, Headquarters Road will no longer connect to Mitchell Drive; it will only be used to access the new parking lot behind Wing HQ from SAC Blvd. Contact Mike Harper, 247-3108, for information.

Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30 - 11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.; and the first Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop, 247-5913, for more information.

Attention all Fairchild communication systems users
The use of government communication systems such as, but not limited to, telephones, fax machines, computers, computer networks (including internet access), cellular phones, PDAs, Blackberrys and hand-held radios constitutes consent to monitoring. Also, please ensure that all government owned and issued telephones, fax machines, PDAs, Blackberrys, cell phones, hand-held radios and standalone computers have an attached DD form 2056.
