June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest '08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and they are now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. June 6: Base picnic
Fairchild is hosting its annual picnic at Miller Park 12 - 3 p.m. June 6. There will be free food, games and a number of fun activities. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

June 6: Fairchild Great Race
At midnight June 5, 12 grueling hours of fun will begin, finishing June 6 at the base picnic. The Fairchild Great Race is open to the Fairchild community 16-years-old and older. For more information call the Fitness Center at 247-2791.

Ongoing Notifications:

AAFES survey offers 10-percent discount
Military shoppers who log onto the Army & Air Force Exchange Service Web site and take a quick 12-minute survey from May 5 - June 9 will earn a 10-percent discount on their next shopping trip, good for up to a $100 purchase. Go to www.aafes.com to take the survey and earn your reward today.

Miller Park Gazebo reservations
Interested in barbequing at Miller Park? Make a reservation with Outdoor Recreation for a Gazebo May 1 - October 31. Gazebo use is free. For more information call 247-2511.

Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 and older. Headquarters Road and parking lot closure
Headquarters Road and the parking lot behind the Wing Headquarters building are closed for construction. Parking is available at the old parade grounds on Bong Street. Access to the Headquarters Bldg. during construction will be the front and side doors. Upon completion of the project in late July, Headquarters Road will no longer connect to Mitchell Drive; it will only be used to access the new parking lot behind Wing HQ from SAC Blvd. Contact Mike Harper, 247-3108, if you have any questions.

Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30 - 11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop, 247-5913, for more information.

Attention all Fairchild communication systems users
The use of government communication systems such as, but not limited to, telephones, fax machines, computers, computer networks (including internet access), cellular phones, PDAs, Blackberrys and hand-held radios constitutes consent to monitoring.
