Highlighted Events:

June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest '08
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and they are now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. Upcoming Events:

June 6: Base picnic cancelled
The Fairchild base picnic scheduled for June 6 has been cancelled due to weather conditions. The event will be rescheduled for a date later this summer. The Warrior Dining Facility and Club Fairchild will now be open for regular business June 6.

June 6: Fairchild Great Race
At midnight on June 5 the 12 grueling hours of fun will begin, finishing at noon on June 6 at the base picnic. The Fairchild Great Race is open to the Fairchild community 16 years old and older. For more information call the Fitness Center at 247-2791

June 6: Family Night at Club Fairchild
Club Fairchild is hosting Family Night from 5 - 8 p.m. June 6. There will be balloons and crafts for the children, and hamburgers and chicken sandwiches will be served. Price is $8.95 for members and $11.95 for non-members. Children ages 5 - 10 eat for half price and children under 4 are free. Call Club Fairchild at 244-3622 for more information.

June 11: Basic Car Care Class
Spouses of deployed members are invited to attend a free basic car care class at noon June 11 at the Auto Hobby Shop. Upon completion of the class each participant will receive a certificate for a free Car Care Kit courtesy of the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

June 12: Chief Master Sgt. Paul Sikora Retirement
After 27 years in the Air Force, Chief Master Sgt. Paul Sikora, Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, is retiring. His ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. June 12 at Club Fairchild.

June 15: Father's Day Brunch at Club Fairchild
Club Fairchild is hosting a Father's Day brunch from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. June 15. Prime Rib, lunch items, an omelet station and dessert bar will be available. Price is $17.95 for members and $20.95 for non-members. Pre-pay by June 6 and fathers are free. Children ages 5 - 10 eat for $7.50, and ages 4 and under are free. Online CLEP/DANTES

Study Skills Class
This seminar is designed for those returning to school after a long absence. The primary focus is to introduce students to time-management skills. Other modules include memory, reading for comprehension and test-taking tips. Students will also assess their learning styles, establish goals and make a study calendar. Classes are scheduled July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10. They will be held at the Base Education Center in Room 105 from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with lunch from noon - 1:00 p.m. Contact Dennis Ottmar at 247-4209 or email dennis.ottmar@fairchild.af.mil with any questions about enrollment.

Military Personnel 1.0
This class involves the latest enlisted and officer personnel systems and processes. The class is open to all military and civilian supervisors. 2008 Club Scholarship Program
Club Fairchild is now accepting entries for their annual scholarship program. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to the top 25 entries. To enter, write a 500-word, or less, essay on the topic: "The most important person in my life." Submit the entry to Club Fairchild no later than July 1; only one essay per eligible person will be accepted. Final scholarship awards will be announced by Sept. 19. Register for Community Colleges of Spokane classes
Fairchild Spring II 2008 classes began May 19. General education and math lab classes are offered. Register early to ensure class availability. To schedule an advising appointment or speak to a counselor, call 533-8937. For GED, high school completion and English as a Second Language classes call 533-4600.

Park University
- Effective July 1, Park will no longer transfer History classes as Humanities credits. Instead, History credits will be given as Social Science credits. Call 244-2020 for information.

- Park University offers a 15-credit-hour scholarship for non-military spouses and dependents of active-duty personnel. For more information call the Park University office at 244-2020.

- Park University, Fairchild Campus Center will offer the Writing Competency Test May 27, and June 3, 10, 17 and 24. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement. The WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after test date. Failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation because the requirement will not be waived. Call the Fairchild Campus Center at 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the mandatory WCT.

- On-site and Internet classes for summer (Term V) begin June 2. Registration is in progress for both online and onsite courses. Be sure to register early for Internet classes. - Park's Online Learning program offers seven Bachelor of Science degree completion programs online and more than 250 internet courses (including General Education classes) each term. For more information call 244-2020.

- Park University offers several online graduate degree programs. Master's degrees are available in Public Affairs, Business Administration, Communication and Leadership, Education, and Healthcare Leadership.
