Highlighted Events: June 28-29: Spokane Hoopfest '08 More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to make the Hoopfest tournament a success and they are now taking names. There are numerous opportunities at Hoopfest; the most crucial volunteer is the Hoopfest Court Monitor. Hoopfest will honor a two-day commitment as a Court Monitor with NIKE shorts, shoes, monitor t-shirt, and hat. To register visit www.spokanehoopfest.net or download the application form. June 27: Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake event The Big Brothers, Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake event is a fundraising initiative that benefits the Inland Northwest Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization that helps match adult mentors with children. Matching mentors with children is expensive; it costs $1,000 per year. The money directly benefits kids on base and in Spokane. The event will be held at the FunSpot June 27. To participate in this event contact your squadron point of contact. June 27: 92nd Operations Group change of command ceremony The 92nd Operations Group change-of-command ceremony will be held at building 2050 at 9 a.m. June 27. June 30: Wing Promotion Recognition Ceremony The Wing Promotion Recognition Ceremony will be held in the Club Fairchild Ballroom at 3:30 p.m. June 30. Education Briefs: Fatigue countermeasures course The aerospace physiology training flight, in conjunction with the flight medicine clinic, will be offering a 1 hour course on fatigue countermeasures for first line supervisors. The course will take place at the aerospace physiology training facility in building 2001B, South Olympia Street between 9 - 10 a.m. July 2 and Aug. 7. It will provide up-to-date information on the signs of fatigue, the science of sleep and how to mitigate fatigue-related mistakes/mishaps, with the goal of improving human performance and mission effectiveness. Military Personnel 1.0 This class involves the latest enlisted and officer personnel systems and processes. The class is open to all military and civilian supervisors. Study Skills Class This seminar is designed for those returning to school after a long absence. The primary focus is to introduce students to time-management skills. Other modules include memory, reading for comprehension and test-taking tips. Students will also assess their learning styles, establish goals and make a study calendar. Classes are scheduled July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to the top 25 entries. To enter, write a 500-word, or less, essay on the topic: "The most important person in my life." Submit the entry to Club Fairchild no later than July 1; only one essay per eligible person will be accepted. Final scholarship awards will be announced by Sept. 19. Registration begins July 21 for on-site classes. - Effective July 1, Park will no longer transfer History classes as Humanities credits. Instead, History credits will be given as Social Science credits.
