Shifts are available from 8 a.m. - noon, noon - 4 p.m. and 4 - 7 p.m. July 11. Make an impact on child hunger by volunteering for the "What's for Lunch Food Drive." The food drive benefits Second Harvest's network of 20 neighborhood food banks and the children and families they serve. The food that is raised plays a key role in helping low-income children eat through the summer months, when many lack easy access to USDA summer meal programs. Big Brothers, Big Sisters Michael Anderson Elementary School is looking for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, men and women who are free to spend one hour per week during lunch with a child at the school. They would have lunch together and be with them at recess. Consistency is critical for children, as they become very attached to their big brother or sister. The school understands there are times when a volunteer may be gone out of town or other setbacks and will work around this. Applications are available at the school. Volunteers will be screened by Big Brothers, Big Sisters and an interview will be scheduled. For information call Cheryl Stitt at 565-3604.
