The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information.

Upcoming Events:

Oct. 10: Family Fitness Night
Enjoy a night of fun and exercise at the Fitness Center Oct. 10. from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Activities will be available for the whole family to enjoy, including relays, four-square, dodge ball and much more. Sign up at the Fitness Center by Oct. 7. For more information call 247-2791.

Oct. 14: CFC Kick-off ceremony
The Combined Federal Campaign's kick-off ceremony will be held Oct. 14 from noon - 1 p.m. at the Deel Community Center. Stop by for Starbuck's coffee and baked treats. The campaign will continue Oct. 14 - 24. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. Oct. 15: Chief's Steakout
The Chief's Steakout is scheduled for Oct.15 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Hangar 2. Steak, baked potato, salad, Louisiana style beans and a soda will be served, all for only $7. Contact your first sergeant for tickets.

Oct. 15: National Disability Employment Awareness Month
The Fairchild Envision Xpress Store is celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. All Fairchild personnel and families are invited to stop into the store for games, pastries, chicken wings (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) and cake. Oct. 18: "The Pains of Love"
"The Pains of Love" is a murder-mystery dinner theater presentation based on the board game CLUE. The evening event is Oct. 18 from 6 - 9 p.m. in the Deel Community Center ballroom. Tickets are $10 per person and include a dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread, dessert and a beverage. Tickets are available at the Youth Center through Oct. 10 or until sold out. Oct. 23: AMC icon
Show your support for Airman 1st Class Johanna Brooks, 141st Air Refueling Wing, Oct. 23 as she represents Team Fairchild at the Air Mobility Command Icon competition at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Club Fairchild will show a live telecast of the competition showing in the Skybox from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. For more information on the event call 244-3622.

Oct. 25: Banshee Ball for all
The FunSpot is planning an evening of fun Oct. 25 from 5 - 10 p.m. Children 4 and under are admitted free. For all others, $6 gets you in. Bowling, skating, billiards and batting cages are all included in the price, as well as the Haunted Hollow Miniature Golf course, a costume contest and the great gross-out worm eating contest. Magician Mathew VanZee will also have a performance. For more information call 247-2422.

Oct. 30: Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
This free event is scheduled for Oct. 30 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Base Library. The focus of the party is for pre-school children; however, older siblings are welcome. Stories, crafts and trick-or-treat stations are all part of the fun scheduled for the evening. For more information call 247-5556.

Oct. 31: Annual Pumpkin Patrol
Fairchild is looking for volunteers to participate in the annual pumpkin patrol in on-base housing areas. Volunteers will walk through neighborhoods to ensure the safety of trick-or-treating children. Volunteers will be required to wear uniform of the day. For more information contact Tech. Sgt. Oct. 31: Friday Night Frenzy
Bowling, skating, batting cages and golf will be available for only $5 per person Oct. 31 from 4 - 10 p.m. at the Funspot. For more information call 247-2422.

Nov. 4: Turkey Trot
The Fitness Center has scheduled their Turkey Trot for Nov. 4 from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Families sign up and see how far you can go in 20 minutes. The three families with the greatest average distance covered win a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. For more information call 247-2791.

Nov. 5: "Musical Salute to Veterans"
The 9th Annual "Musical Salute to Veterans" will be held in the auditorium of the Masonic Temple, 1108 West Riverside, Spokane, Wash., Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to this patriotic, flag-waving musical review and remembrance of our veterans. Nov. 6: Veteran's Job Fair
East Central Community Center, located at 500 South Stone Street, Spokane, Wash., is holding a Veteran's Job Fair Nov. 6 from 2 - 4:30 p.m. Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes and be prepared to interview directly with employers. Nov. 8: Portland Trail Blazers Military Appreciation Night
The Portland Trail Blazers will play the Minnesota Timberwolves Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Portland, Ore. The Trail Blazers are dedicating the night to all veterans, active-duty members, reservists and their friends and families with reduced ticket prices. There will be a pre-game swear-in ceremony, a special halftime presentation, and a color guard presentation. Ongoing Notifications:

Mandatory flu vaccine for Fairchild personnel
92nd Medical Group personnel will be administering the vaccine at the base theater on a walk-in basis the following dates and times:

Oct. 14, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Oct. 16, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Oct. 20, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Oct. 21, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Personnel are only required to bring their common access cards. Keep in mind that members receiving FluMist may leave the theater immediately after receiving the vaccine; members receiving the flu shot will be required to remain for 15 minutes after the vaccine.

Sherman Road final paving
The final paving of Sherman Road in front of the Armed Force Reserves Center is scheduled Oct 20 - 29. Traffic will be detoured around the paving operations. The road will reopen for traffic by the morning of Oct. 29.

Motorcycle safety classes
October is the last month the safety office will be conducting motorcycle safety classes. The last Experienced Riders Course will be held Oct. 14 and the last sport bike class will be Oct. 17. There are still seats available in both the ERC and sport bike classes. Classes will not start again until April or May 2009. For more information contact Tech. Sgt. Faith Fix at 247-2141.

Gas Mask fit testing
Bioenvironmental Engineering hours for gas mask fit testing are Mondays from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Be sure to bring your mask and eye glass inserts. For fit testing under the Base Respiratory Protection Program, fill out Medical Evaluation Questionnaire, FAFB Form 227. Once you are cleared, fit testing and training is held the first and third Thursday of every month from 1:30 - 4 p.m. Do not smoke for two hours prior or eat or drink (except water) 30 minutes prior to a fit test. 92nd LRS mobility/weapons name change
The 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron mobility/weapons has changed its name to Personal Protective Equipment. If you require personal protective equipment bags or weapons stop by Monday - Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. or Thursday from 8 a.m. - noon. For short-notice deployment requirements unit deployment managers can call 247-4930 or 247-2154 for appointments noon - 4 p.m. Thursdays.

Webcams for deployed spouses
The Airman & Family Readiness Center now has operational Web cameras in the Discovery Center. Family members can talk directly to loved ones in some deployed locations. Stop by from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. during the week or call the A&FRC at 247-2246 to schedule an appointment during after-hours use. They also have Web cameras to check out for home use. Readiness and deployment information is available for your family needs.

FAN Club membership drive
The 92nd Services FAN Club is seeking new members. Sign up through Oct. 15 and pay no dues for the first six months. $1000 will be given to the squadron with the greatest number of sign-ups; squadrons with the highest percentage of members participating in the FAN Club will also win $1,000; plus, new members will be entered into a $1,000 drawing and will receive a $100 scratch ticket. New members have a choice between a MasterCard and Proprietary Card. MasterCard members earn two percent cash back on all purchases. For more information call Club Fairchild at 244-3622.

Paintball at the Sports Range
The Sports Range is open for paintball Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The supreme package deal includes helmet, mask, gun, all-day air and all-day play plus 500 paint balls for just $30. For more information call 247-5973.

Fairchild Golf Driving Range open
The Fairchild Golf Driving Range is open for use. The Driving Range is located at the Sports Range at 109 Sport Range Road. For more information call 247-5973.

ALS Flight Chief needed
Airman Leadership School is accepting flight chief applications. The flight chief is responsible for all aspects of operations; implementing policies, programs and procedures; and providing leadership, guidance and direction to the faculty support staff and students. The flight chief also supervises and/or evaluates a faculty of five and is responsible for training the faculty. He or she interfaces with Air Force and civic organizations to enhance support for enlisted professional military education, recruits and selects faculty; manages all resource programs including, manpower, money, equipment and facilities; and plans, manages, and hosts graduation ceremonies. Fairchild swim teams
Be a part of one of the two Fairchild swim teams. Practices are held at the indoor pool; all levels of experience are welcome and swim all year. The Aqua Aviators Novice Swim Team meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4 - 5 p.m. Participants are 18 years and under. Cost per month is $30. The free Masters Swim Team meets Monday and Wednesday from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Participants are over the age of 18. Monthly swim meets are held if you are interested in participating. Brazilian Jujitsu every first and third Tuesday
Brazilian Jujitsu lessons are available at the Survival Fitness Center every first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Classes are $20 monthly and are available to members and dependents of Fairchild age 16 and older. Public Health walk-in hours for pre-deployers
In an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-deployment medical process, Public Health has established walk-in hours for medical processing of pre-deployers every Monday through Thursday from 7:30 - 11 a.m. Customers will continue to be seen outside of these hours Monday through Friday by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person or by calling 247-8486.

Thrift Shop accepting consignments and donations
The Thrift Shop is currently accepting consignments and donations for spring and summer clothing. Thrift Shop hours are: Mondays, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.; and the first Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call the Thrift Shop at 247-5913 for more information.
