Fairchild's Snow and Ice control team is recognized Air Force wide as a leader in snow and ice control operations. They have won numerous "Balchen-Post Awards" for Snow and Ice Control excellence both at Air Force and MAJCOM-level, from the days of the Strategic Air Command through Air Mobility Command.

Last year Fairchild had 91 inches of snow, the second highest rate since record keeping started here in the late 1800s. At 38 inches over a 50-year average snowfall, the snow team was tested as never before and once again proved their capabilities.

The snow parade is an annual event, normally held in conjunction with a pre-season base Snow and Ice Control Committee meeting, usually during the first two weeks of October. The parade formally kicks off the snow removal season and demonstrates to the base populace that the 92nd Civil Engineers are ready to support the mission with the best snow removal personnel and equipment in the world.
