This food drive takes place at the four Spokane community Fred Meyer stores Dec. 13. Friend to Friend of Spokane
Friend to Friend of Spokane is seeking recruits from the community who can make a commitment to regularly visit residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, particularly those without visiting friends or family. For more information call 483-1600.

Hope House for homeless woman
Volunteers are desperately needed at Hope House, an emergency shelter for homeless women. Evening and daytime hours are available. Please contact Michelle at 455-2886 for more information.

Fairchild Family Oasis
The Family Oasis is looking for energized, committed and enthusiastic volunteers to teach child/family activity classes. If you enjoy working with children and would be interested in volunteering, please call Stacy Compton at 247-2005.

Spokane Arts Commission
The Spokane Arts Commission is looking for fall interns and volunteers to help with the Exhibiting Committee (choosing and installing exhibitions for the Chase Gallery), arts awards, marketing and writing for www.spokanearts.org and other tasks. If you are interested in volunteering or interning, please e-mail kmobley@spokanecity.org.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Michael Anderson Elementary School is looking for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, men and women who are free to spend one hour per week during lunch with a child at the school. They would have lunch together and be with them at recess. Consistency is critical for children, as they become very attached to their big brother or sister. The school understands that there are times when a volunteer may be gone out of town or other setbacks and will work around this. Applications are available at the school. Volunteers will be screened by Big Brothers, Big Sisters and an interview will be scheduled. For information call Cheryl Stitt at 565-3604.
