Medical Records Coordination: PCS, Separation, or Retirement Published June 26, 2009 By Barb Thompson 92nd Medical Support Squadron FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- If you are PCSing, retiring or separating from military service and medical records is on your list of concerns, let the 92nd Medical Group Patient Administration Team help you through the process of managing your military medical records. PCS-Active duty members may hand-carry their military treatment record after presenting the 92nd Medical Group Outpatient Records Section with a copy of their PCS orders within three days of their final out date. Upon receipt of PCS orders from either the sponsor or the patient, an outpatient records staff member will mail dependents' records to the gaining military treatment facility. If one of your family members has special needs, please speak with a Release of Information staff member to obtain pertinent record copies to hand carry. Retirement/Separation-The Release of Information Office encourages active duty members to request a copy of their medical record. A year prior to the event is not too early, and updates are available after the initial copy is made. Family members who will not be using the 92nd MDG for their primary care needs are also encouraged to visit the ROI office to initiate the proper releases to obtain a copy of their medical treatment record. Active duty members must bring a copy of their retirement/separation orders to the outpatient records office no earlier than five days before their final out processing date to be cleared from the medical records portion of the virtual out processing checklist. If you have any questions or concerns about your medical records, our team would like to help. Outpatient records staff members can be reached at 247-5520 and the Release of Information number is 247-5758.
