141st Security Forces return at end of month Published Feb. 11, 2010 By Maj. Sandy Smock 141st Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Citizen Airmen from the Washington National Guard's 141st Security Forces will begin to travel from the Operation Iraqi Freedom theater to Fairchild Air Force Base in late February. The airmen will have completed a six month mobilization. "We are all extremely proud of the job the deployed men and women of the 141st Security Forces are doing and we look forward to their safe return to their families," said Col. Michael Hirst, 141st Mission Support Group commander. The 141st Security Forces entered federal active duty on July 5, 2009. After conducting pre-deployment training at Fort Bliss, Texas, they deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Missions for 141st Security Forces in Iraq typically focus on base defense and resource protection. The 141st Security Forces is headquartered at Fairchild Air Force Base. Approximately 36 Air National Guard members will return. Many 141st Security Forces members previously served in Iraq, Afghanistan and a plethora of support bases throughout the area of operations since September 11. Twelve deployed Security Forces members also serve in local community police departments.
