Band of the Northwest kicks off concert series at FAFB

By Team Fairchild is invited to the Air National Guard Band of the Northwest's first performance of the year at the Base Chapel here July 19, 2011 at 6 p.m.

The Band of the Northwest was activated in 1948 and has been serving the Northwest communities to include North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The 35 member band can play as ten separate performing groups ranging from formal concerts, ceremonial and marching performances, to a swinging 18 piece Big Band, and chamber ensembles covering, jazz, rock and classical music.

At this concert they will be performing patriotic, classical and jazz music.

The band will also be almost twice as big as it usually is.
"Our band has 35 members, but right now we have 60 because we're augmenting from St. Louis," said Senior Master Sgt. Michael Baker, Band of the Northwest operations director.

After this performance, the band will head to Montana to finish off this year's concert
