Ops group training week: a notable success

The 92nd Operations Group did in one week what they typically do in an entire month - 9 percent of required annual training.

More than 200 Airmen knocked out more than 550 training requirements one week in February. The 92nd OG must complete a combined total of more than 60,000 flying, ground and ancillary training sessions for its members each year.

"I am very pleased with the accomplishments made during our impromptu training week," said Col. Shawn Teagan, 92nd OG commander. "Training builds the foundation we need to be able to operate anywhere around the world and this week allowed us to strengthen that foundation."

This was made possible because of an unexpected exercise cancellation -- and the 92nd OG didn't let the time go to waste.

"There was minimal flying that week, allowing us to focus more on our training," said Capt. Zachary Valdez, 93rd Air Refueling Squadron mobility pilot of scheduling.

The training included everything from multi-point KC-135 refueling systems and KC-135 cargo loading to personal resiliency and self aid and buddy care.

Maj. William Nodine, Jr., 93rd ARS chief of training, credits the training accomplishment to the flexibility and coordination with many subject matter experts within and outside of the 92nd OG.

"Having all this training done ahead of schedule allows us to focus more on proficiency, contingency operations and Air Mobility Command level taskings," said Nodine. "Completing this amount of training in one week was no easy task. It wouldn't have been possible without the combined efforts of everyone involved."
