Fairchild's Finest: Staff Sgt. Marc Villano Published March 27, 2013 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affaris FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Name: Staff Sgt. Marc Villano Unit: 92nd Medical Operations Squadron Duty title: NCO in charge of ambulance services What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild Air Force Base? I manage the daily operations of Fairchild's ambulance service that provides around-the-clock response to medical, in-flight, and ground emergencies. What do you enjoy about your job? Even after 8 years in emergency medical system, I still enjoy running calls, blaring lights and sirens - like I was still a rookie - it never gets old. And at the end of a "good" call, receiving a smile or "Thank You" after helping someone in their deepest need. Why did you choose to serve in the military? I couldn't shake the thought that there was more to work than running a city ambulance shift-in and shift-out; that I could contribute overseas or on humanitarian missions. What goals do you want to achieve or meet while at the Fairchild Air Force Base? I want to leave Fairchild's ambulance service better than when I found it and set it up for the next person to leave it better than he or she finds it. What is your favorite quote? "...amateurs train until they get it right, but professionals train until they cannot get it wrong." Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her? My mother, hands down. She taught me that everything starts with family. Whether it's your family at work or at home, very little can be accomplished alone. If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why? Seattle Seahawks' head coach, Pete Carol. So we could figure out next seasons' winning game plan...finally!
