Having trouble keeping a healthy waistline? "Better Body, Better Life" can help by promoting healthier lifestyle choices.

The class is an Air Force Weight Management Program held at the Health and Wellness Center to assist participants seeking to lose and maintain their weight and enjoy an overall healthy lifestyle.

"This program includes general information on nutrition, physical activity and behavioral issues dealing with weight and lifestyle issues through facilitated classroom discussions and hands-on activities," said Alyson Kresser, 92nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron Health and Wellness Center, registered dietitian.

The class is offered to anyone, but is mostly targeted to assist military members looking to improve their abdominal circumference part for their physical fitness test.

"A healthy lifestyle is imperative for an individual's health and longevity, especially our active duty members," said Kresser. "Nutrition is our body's fuel and what we eat can have a significant impact on how we feel and perform, both on the job and in our fitness."

Each class can take up to 15 students and the members can enter the program at any time. The students will discuss various topics each week including: nutrient dense foods, portions, sugars, fats, dining out, meal planning, grocery shopping, as well as emotional and stress eating.

The class works to adjust food and behavioral management for weight control and a commissary tour outside of class is offered to assist participants in healthier food choices, according to Kresser.

This program helps participants identify personal goals along with ways to make behavioral changes to meet those specific goals.

"This class is so much more than a weight management or weigh loss program," said Will Saultes, 92nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron Health and Wellness Center, health promotion manager. "This class can help and I believe can be very beneficial to everyone regardless of their nutritional knowledge. I recommend taking advantage of this free class offered at the HAWC."

Better Body, Better Life is offered every Monday from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. in the kitchen classroom inside the HAWC.

For more information visit the HAWC or call 509-247-5590. They are open Monday through Friday, 7:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.
