SkyFest 2019 coming to Fairchild Published Feb. 19, 2019 By Airman 1st Class Whitney Laine 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The free 2019 Inland Northwest SkyFest Airshow and Open House is scheduled to be held at Fairchild Air Force Base 22 June.SkyFest will feature the F-22 Demonstration Team, Air Force Academy’s Wings of Blue parachute team, U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and a heritage flight of historical aircraft. One of Fairchild’s KC-135 Stratotankers will also perform a fly-by and low-pass air refueling demonstration.“We are very excited to welcome our Inland Northwest neighbors inside our gates during SkyFest this year,” said Col. Derek Salmi, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “We want to thank our community for all their support while showcasing Air Force combat capabilities.”The base will open its gates to the public for one day to display the U.S. Air Force’s power and ability. Patrons of the airshow will also be able to enjoy static display aircraft, interactive exhibits, live music featuring the U.S. Air Force’s Band of the Golden West, food and much more.“Team Fairchild Airmen are already working hard to organize an amazing show for the community to experience,” said Maj. Michael Rajchel, 2019 SkyFest ground operations director. “The Inland Northwest community is critical to the success of Team Fairchild, so we look forward to welcoming all to the base once again to showcase the nation’s premier air refueling team and share what makes the U.S. Air Force the best in the world!”Safety is paramount to the Air Force and numerous items will be prohibited to ensure the safety of all attendees, performers and base personnel. Firearms, weapons, fireworks and drones will not be permitted into the event.
