Fairchild Airmen helps kick off Sled Hockey tourney
A member of the Fairchild Falcons varsity hockey team wraps his sled hockey stick before an exhibition match at the Frontier Ice Arena here in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Sept. 23, 2016. The tape gives the hockey stick more friction, which allows better handling with the hockey puck while they play sled. Instead of ice skates on their feet, athletes are outfitted with sleds and short hockey sticks with metal “teeth” that allow for traction on the ice and propels the players in the direction of their choice.
