National anthem kicks off military tradition
Senior Airmen Kimberly Carter and Stephanie George, 92nd Comptroller Squadron travel pay technicians, sing the national anthem as the Fairchild Honor Guard presents the colors during the 92nd CPTS change of command ceremony June 19, 2015, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States and has served in this capacity since a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931. Some historians note the song was also used officially by the U.S. Navy as early as 1889. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Benjamin W. Stratton)
