92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs
8/29/2012 - FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. --
Name: Senior Airman Alexxus Palacio
Unit: 92nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron
Duty Title: Instruments and Flight Control Systems Journeyman
Hometown: St. Petersburg, Fla.
What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild AFB? Perform maintenance on KC-135 avionic systems, autopilot, global positioning system and flight control systems.
What do you enjoy about your job? Performing maintenance on aircraft while crew are on-board with engines running, knowing the component/system I worked on helped the mission succeed.
Why did you choose to serve in the military? Travel, to further my education and to do something that matters to our country.
Family: My wife, Noelani, and my daughter, Thailee
Time in military: 3 years 4 months
Greatest accomplishment: Being selected to work with the 412th Flight Test Squadron, Edwards AFB California working with "Project Speckled Trout."
Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the Fairchild AFB: To leave my unit/section better than I found it. To help the new Airmen just coming into the Air Force learn the correct ways of aircraft maintenance.
Hobbies: Soccer, football, working out at the gym and best of all spending quality time with my wife and daughter.
Your best habit: My dedication to exercise.
Favorite Quote: "Men of genius do not excel in any profession because they labor in it, but they labor in it because they excel." - William Hazlitt
Favorite movies: The Last Dragon
Who is your favorite mentor: My uncle U.S. Army (Retired) Staff Sgt. Fred Ramos
If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why: Staff Sgt. Myron McElroy, during an eight hour drive to Mountain Home AFB as part of a maintenance recovery team. We spent much time discussing the discipline of hard work and knowing that you performed at your best at the end of the day even if you didn't feel the best. |
