Nine Air Mobility Command Mission Support Group commanders toured Fairchild Nov. 16 in hopes of finding something they can incorporate into their groups at their home bases.

The program, called the Excellent Installation Orientation program, gives other AMC mission support group commanders a chance to see initiatives at installations across the command to improve quality of life, mission support, infrastructure, efficiency or a combination of all.

"The idea is to take what works at other bases and use it to improve our processes for Fairchild Airmen," said Col. Van Fuller, 92nd MSG commander.

Each base is visited biennially, with the team touring five AMC bases this year, including MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.; McGuire AFB, N.J.; Grand Forks AFB, N.D.; Fairchild AFB, Wash.; and McChord AFB, Wash.

The visit to Fairchild was broken down into six sessions, with the first session focused on Total Force Integration and building relationships with other military organizations.

The second session highlighted some of the 92nd Services Squadron's programs, including the Auto Hobby Shop, woodworking, youth and child development center programs, lodging and couples reintegration.

Showcased in the third session were various programs that affect the entire wing, such as the Education Center, First Term Airmen's Center, Right Start and the elimination of bay orderlies.

A few of Fairchild's recently consolidated work centers were covered in session number four. The two main focuses were the Pathfinder project, which centralized all computer technicians, and the most recent 92nd MSG Consolidated Commander Support Staffs, or C2S2.

In session five the team learned about the rubber removal process on the flightline, which is handled through the 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron.

Finally, in session six the team had the chance to see first-hand the effectiveness of Fairchild's new gate system in a live demonstration by the 92nd Security Forces Squadron.

"The team was impressed with the professionalism of Team Fairchild and the quality of the initiatives shown," said Colonel Fuller. "But what awed them most was the energy and enthusiasm of our Airmen.

"Thanks to every member of Team Fairchild, mission support groups across the command will provide better support for Global Mobility and Expeditionary Combat Support," he said.

The team left the same day to travel to the next stop on their five-day tour, McChord AFB.
