FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. --
Every April marks the Air Force's continued commitment to preventing sexual assault and uses the month as an opportunity to renew the service's vow to treat others with dignity and respect. This mentality, while reinforced during April, is something Team Fairchild Airmen say they carry with them wherever they go any time of year and even while running.
Nearly 500 Airmen, civilians and dependents came out in support of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month road race April 25 for both 1.5 mile and 5k races. The first 300 runners to cross the finish line were awarded a sexual assault awareness themed t-shirt.
"Great event today!" exclaimed Col. Brian Newberry, the 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander. "As a wing, we stood up and said we are united to build respect and dignity across the wing and eradicate sexual assault in our unit."
