Protocol performs color guard for reveille, retreat
FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. --
Members of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing's protocol office performed color guard for reveille and retreat here March 27.
The U.S. military plays or sounds "reveille" in the morning, generally near sunrise, and "retreat" in the evening, generally near sunset, though their exact time vary from base to base. Here at Fairchild, reveille is played at 6:30 a.m. every morning and retreat is played at 5 p.m. every night. It is customary to pause or stop where one is.
Additionally, if outside and especially in uniform, one must salute during the National Anthem. For more information on what to do if outside while these military traditions are underway, call the protocol office at 247-2151.
