1/22/2013 - FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Most Airmen assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing are in need of a device for their ribbon rack.

The wing recently garnered its second Air Force Outstanding Unit Award in as many years.

Airmen assigned to the 92nd ARW between Aug. 1, 2011 and Aug. 31, 2012 are eligible for the award.

"Members of the 92nd ARW execute their mission - fueling the fight, fueling freedom, defending freedom - every day without expecting any award," said Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd ARW commander. "That said, we recognize that everyone's hard work has made us a premier base in Air Mobility Command and it is imperative for leadership to make sure that hard work is recognized. Please accept a well-deserved shout out to everyone assigned to the Wing for everything they did to earn another Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, two years in a row!"

According to the award package, members of the 92nd ARW had a number of accomplishments during the award period, including:

- Flying more than 5,000 missions and offloading 169 million pounds of fuel to more than 15,000 receivers worldwide
- Deployed more than 1,000 people to six different combatant commands
- Scored "excellent" in several exercises and inspections
- Named the winner of several Air Force-level awards in snow removal, energy conservation, weapon systems acquisition, ground safety,
- Earned multiple awards as best in AMC in services marketing, maintenance effectiveness, dental clinic and others

In addition, Team Fairchild operated out of three different locations for much of the award period, further complicating day-to-day activities, as a new runway was completed on time and on budget.

The AFOUA is worn between the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award. Airmen with a previous AFOUA add the appropriate device to their ribbon rack.

"The system should update automatically for people," said Senior Airman Karina Masterson, 92nd Force Support Squadron. "If anyone has any issues, they should just come see us and we'll help them get it resolved so they have the award listed correctly."
